Economic, environmental, social resilience and empowerment are key factors in supporting the abilities of individuals and communities to overcome exclusion, marginalization and poverty. While women contribute significantly to the incomes of their families, increase the quality of life in their households and invest in their communities more than men according to development research, women also face exploitation, discrimination, engage less in decision-making processes that affect their lives, experience limitation over assets and control over income, and are impacted by poverty disproportionately.
